Information For DS13 Co-Chairs

  • Diversity: The organizing committee and plenary speakers should include women and underrepresented minorities, members from outside North America, as well as representatives from industry and the national labs, where appropriate. SIAM also encourages the inclusion of junior scientist in the organizing committee.
  • Balance: Plenary speakers and minisymposium organizers should represent a broad range of scientific disciplines and geographical locations, and should include representatives from industry (consult with the SIAM Vice President for Industry).
  • Role of SIAG Officers: The SIAG Chair in consultation with the SIAG Program Director selects the Conference Chair, who must be approved by the SIAM Vice President for Programs. The other SIAG officers should be involved in an oversight role and be kept informed about the general progress of the meeting, but they are not normally members of the organizing committee.
  • Approval: Selection of organizing committee members and plenary speakers requires approval from the SIAM Vice President for Programs. Please do not issue any invitations before approval is granted.
  • General: Consult with the conference staff. When in doubt, please ask and send email to [email protected]. Kirsten Wilden is the Meeting Manager for DS13. She can answer most questions. Please cc Kirsten Wilden on all correspondence.
