Systems does not have any official support for Windows printing, but you should be able to follow these instructions manual setup.

You'll need to find and install the drivers manually from Canon. Here you can find the drivers needed for our Public Printers. Once you've identified the printer you wish to use, visit the link next to it to download the correct driver.

You can print to the printers directly without using the print server. The printer's hostnames are <printer-name>.mcs.anl.gov.

For Windows 10, the following instructions apply:

  • Download the appropriate driver, and install it using the instructions provided at the Canon site.
  • Go into Settings, Devices, Printers and Scanners.
  • Add Printer or Scanner
  • Choose "The Printer that I want isn't listed"
  • Choose "Add a printer using TCP/IP address or hostname". Click Next.
    • For "Device Type", choose Autodetect.
    • Hostname or IP address: <the full hostname of the printer you're adding>
    • Port name: <whatever you like, the default is the same as the hostname>
    • Check "Query the printer and automatically select the driver to use" and Click Next.
  • If you've installed the Canon driver as instructed, it should select the appropriate driver. Click Next.
  • Give the printer the name you want. We recommend the first part of the hostname (pr-2d11-color, for example). Click Next.
  • Choose "Do not share this printer." Click Next.
  • You're done, click Finish.
