Sven Leyffer

I am a senior computational mathematician and deputy division director in the Mathematics and Computer Science Division at Argonne National Laboratory. I am a member of LANS, the Laboratory for Applied Mathematics, Numerical Software, and Statistics (LANS) , and a Senior Fellow of the Computation Institute.

Research Statement:
I am interested in the development of reliable methods for solving large-scale nonlinear optimization problems and in the implementation and analysis of filter type algorithms. This forms the basis from which I am extending nonlinear optimization methodologies to other areas such as design-of-experiments, machine learning, quantum computing, and mixed-integer nonlinear optimization.
