This page lists various software downloads primarily designed for Windows laptop users. In order for this page to work, you must be inside the firewall (which is the case right now since you're reading this).

The links below point to software packages, many of which are hosted at external sites. MCS assumes no responsibility for the content of any links outside the "mcs.anl.gov" domain, and the links are provided as a convenience.

The packages actually listed on this page are licensed copies. Any restriction on licensing is noted in the description. The files must be downloaded to your laptop and extracted before attempting installation. If you think a package below is out of date, please let us know.

You must extract the entire archive before installing -- do not attempt to install from within Microsoft's .zip viewer. After the download is complete, right-c lick it and select the option to extract the file.

Packages provided by MCS

Adobe Acrobat Professional

A new license must purchased for a machine before Acrobat Professional can be installed. Contact your assigned purchaser with the CSI number of the machine and a cost code (if known). Systems will send you the license key when the order is complete.

Imprint

Imprint creates a shortcut on your desktop into which you can drag and drop any file. A menu will pop up letting you make any changes to which printer, etc. Then click the print button. Wonderful for printing text or ps files quickly, or for source code without loading up the compiler. Once it is installed, open it, click the Info tab, click How to Register, enter the password argonne98 and click the Register button. Then click Close. This is a special copy of Imprint that is hard coded for out site license.

MathType

This is licensed per copy - send mail to systems@mcs.anl.gov if you wish to install it.

Microsoft Office 2007

This is licensed per copy - send mail to systems@mcs.anl.gov if you wish to install it.

Microsoft Office 2010

This is licensed per copy - you need to be on an Argonne network (not a guest network) to activate it. No license key is required. This is an ISO image, which you can burn to a CD.

Microsoft Project 2007

This is licensed per copy - send mail to systems@mcs.anl.gov if you wish to install it.

Microsoft Visio Viewer

This is zero cost - if you only need to view Visio diagrams rather than create them, use this instead of the expensive Visio software.

We are site licensed for this virtual desktop manager.

SecureCRT 5.1.3

The license key "SecureCRT.LIC" is included in the zip file. Simply copy it into the directory into which SecureCRT installs itself.

Tivoli Storage Manager

Please ask systems to set up a node name for the machine you are backing up. Usually this is the regular machine name. If your laptop has different names depending upon how it's connected, you can pick any one. It's not important to TSM that the machine actually be named that all the time -- what is important is that TSM sees one and only one name for your machine, which this setting accomplishes.

When you install this, a wizard will start and help you configure it. You only need to know:

• You're configuring the TSM Backup Archive Client
• The node name you picked
• You'll use TCP/IP
• The server address is pcbackup.mcs.anl.gov, port 1500
