Printing On Windows

This document applies to Windows XP users on wired, wireless, or ANL VPN connections. Systems does not have any supported Vista machines, but you should be able to follow these instructions similarly.

Windows print jobs do not pass username information, so separator pages show "nobody" as the user.

Select Start->Run, type 

  \\treekiller.mcs.anl.gov

into the dialog box.

This will bring up an explorer window with a list of printers shared by the print server.

Double-click the printers you want and they will be added to your machine. If you get a message about policy settings not allowing you to perform this action, you need to be running as an administrator. If you are on an MCS supported machine and cannot add a print queue, contact systems@mcs.anl.gov
