Mail:iPhone
From MCS IT Wiki
iPhone users can access the server via two methods, Mobile Web client and standard IMAP/SMTP protocol. To use the Mobile Web version, simply visit https://zimbra.anl.gov on your iPhone, login using your e-mail address and Argonne Domain Password, and make sure Mobile is selected in the dropdown box below the login.
To configure for e-mail, if you sync your mail accounts with your iPhone and you use Mac OS X Mail, your settings will follow to the phone.
If not, simply go into the Mail settings on the iPhone and add a new account. Choose Other, select IMAP and fill in the information as follows:
- Name is how your real name appears on the From line of mail you send.
- Address is your e-mail address.
- Description is the name that will show up in the list of accounts on the phone.
- Under Incoming Mail Server
- Host Name is zimbra.anl.gov.
- User Name is your MCS username-mcs.
- Password is your Argonne domain password.
- Under Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)
- Host Name is zimbra.anl.gov.
- User Name is your MCS username-mcs.
- Password is your Argonne domain password.
The iPhone is generally good about figuring out the right ports to use, but to be sure, after the account is saved, select it from the Accounts screen, scroll down, and choose Advanced. Then ensure that:
- Use SSL is on for both incoming and outgoing.
- Authentication is Password for both incoming and outgoing.
- The ports are 993 for incoming and 587 for outgoing.
