You have two options when using Outlook to talk to Zimbra. If you're only concerned about e-mail, you configure it like any other IMAP account. If you want complete sync, including Calendars, Contacts and Tasks, you want the Outlook Connector.

Configuring for Complete Sync

If you currently sync with an Exchange Server, you may need to set that up again after installing this Zimbra connector.

  • Begin by downloading the Latest Zimbra Outlook Connector on our Zimbra Download Page. It will be named ZimbraOlkConnector-<version>.msi. If there are multiple copies, use the highest version number.
  • Run the installer to install the package. When it's done, open Outlook.
  • A window will ask you to configure the connector. Server Name is zimbra.anl.gov, Email Address is your MCS username-mcs, and Password is your Argonne Domain password.
  • That's it. Click OK.

Configuring for E-Mail Only

We can do this entirely from the Control Panel in Windows. Open your Control Panel and select Mail (this might be under "User Accounts" depending on how your Windows machine is configured).

Select E-Mail Accounts from the window that opens.

  • IMAP is the recommended protocol. E-mail Address is your actual e-mail address, Username is your e-mail username@zimbra.division.anl.gov. Password is Argonne Domain password. Click More Settings

  • On the Outgoing Server tab, check the checkbox, and select Use same settings

  • On the Advanced tab, select SSL for both incoming and outgoing, and ensure the ports are 993 for incoming and 465 for outgoing. Click OK.

  • And we're done.
